The affiliate networks that are used to track offers and offer conversion rely on cookies to determine whether you have completed the offer. Without these cookies, you would not be able to receive credit for completing an offer. Therefore, it is critical that you configure your browser so as not to interfere with this mechanism.
I recommend the following changes to ensure fast, efficient crediting:
- Delete all of your cookies before clicking any offers. In Internet Explorer, navigate to Tool -> Internet Options, and click on the “Delete…” button in the Browsing History section, and in the pop-up window, click “Delete Cookies…”
- On the Internet Options -> Privacy Tab, set your privacy settings to the lowest level, “Accept All Cookies.” This will prevent Internet Explorer from interfering with cookie creation when you complete the offers.
- If you are running any 3rd party virus protection or internet security software, you should also disable these applications so that they will not interfere with the process. Be sure to enable them after you are done completing offers.
NOTE: Always delete your cookies before starting a new offer. Particularly, if you have clicked on the same or similar offers on another site, or even on the current IFW site, this may cause the affiliate to be confused, resulting in your not being credited for completing the offer. Deleting the cookies avoids confusion and helps to ensure that you will get credit.
Step 7. Completing Offers
Navigate to the offers tab at the IFW. You will be presented with 1-10 pages of offers.
Many sites will require multiple offers to be completed in order to receive 1 credit, and you should be sure you understand the credit requirement and how far the particular offer will get you toward meeting that requirement. For example, a 1-credit site may have offers for 1 whole credit, 0.5 credit offers, 0.25 credit offers, 0.05 credit offers and so forth. The expected crediting time for the particular offer is also stated below the offer itself, and it may range anywhere from “Instantly” to 5-7 days or more. Additionally, any costs associated with completing the offer will be noted on this page as well, but be sure you confirm the cost requirements after clicking through to the offer itself!
IMPORTANT: Be sure you read the description of the offer at the IFW, as some times there may be crediting restrictions or hold requirements stated in there. Typically these descriptions will “pop-up” when your mouse hovers over the offer.
Once you have found an offer that you want to complete, and you have already deleted your cookies as instructed in Step 6, then go ahead and click on the offer. A new browser window will open containing the website relating to your selected offer.
When filling out the forms to complete the offer, please note the following:
- You must provide accurate information, and this information must match the information provided in your profile on the IFW site.
- Be sure you have read and understood the Terms and Conditions that are available on the page where you are completing the offer.
- For record keeping purposes, I recommend that you track the following information:
- What site are you completing the offer for?
- How much are you being paid to “go green”
- The out-of-pocket expense (if any) for completing the offer; this would include, for example, the shipping and handling charge that is usually collected at the initiation of a “free” trial.
- If there is a free trial, make a note of how long the trial is.
- What is the contact information of the company that you are signing up for? If there is a customer service number, are there any hours posted?
- By signing up for this offer, are you obligated to enroll in any other membership programs? Sometimes offers will require enrollment in 1-3 other programs, which have their own costs and fees associated.
- Make sure that you get and keep the e-mail confirmation that is sent on completion of the offer; if there are any problems, you will need to provide this e-mail (with full headers) to the IFW administrator as proof that you have completed the offer.
- I recommend creating folders for each IFW where you can put the confirmation e-mails you receive regarding offers completed for the IFW. This will make it easier to find if you should need to reference it later on.
Repeat the above for each offer that you want to complete in order to meet your credit requirements on the IFW site.
If you ever click on an offer and then navigate away from the offer for any reason, always exit out of the IFW and delete your cookies again. You can never be too careful, and you only get hurt if there is a problem with your cookies.
Please note that “Instant” credit offers sometimes take up to a day or so to be credited, although for the most part you should receive the credit right away. If you have waited the appropriate amount of time and still have not received credit, follow the procedures set forth by the IFW administrator for submitting a manual credit request.
Step 8. Check Your Progress
All IFWs provide a page where you can check your progress. Usually this can be found on the status page or at the top of the offers page. In one of these two pages, you will see your total credit earned, as well as a list of the offers that have been credited.
Step 9. Don’t Go Red!
If you have provide truthful information and followed the guidelines set out in the preceding steps, then you have taken the first step toward protecting yourself from “going red”. “Going red” means that the IFW administrator has placed a hold on your account as a result of suspected fraudulent activity. To prevent this, you need to make sure that you always observe the following guidelines:
- Only log in to the IFW site with a single computer using the same internet connection each time. In other words, don’t log in from work and from home; use one and only one, ever.
- Don’t provide false information; only provide the same information, consistently.
- Don’t cancel out of trial periods early or fail to meet the terms and conditions of the offer.
- Only complete offers for products and services that you are interested in.
Step 10. Get Paid
Once you have completed the credit requirements, contact your trade partner. He will verify the green status, and if the term of the trade was “Pay On Green”, you will be paid immediately. If the term of the trade was “Pay On Approval,” the trade partner will contact the IFW admin for verification, and you will get paid once the verification process has been completed successfully (provided your account is not put on hold for any reason).
In closing, I hope this guide is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments or feedback, or if there is anything I can do to help you. I look forward to trading freebies with you soon!
Happy Greening!
